The AAA, along with several other industry bodies, recently expressed strong opposition to the proposed introduction of a bed tax on hotels and other accommodation businesses in South Australia.
The association directly approached the SA Premier's Department seeking that a bed tax is not part of the policy platforms that they will take to the state election.
"We are pleased to advise our South Australian members and colleagues that we have received a call from the Premier's Department overnight [14/08/13] confirming that the current SA government will not be introducing such a tax whilst they are in government," Michael Georgeson, AAA general manager operations, said.
"The association is awaiting written confirmation of this commitment however we are satisfied that the issue is concluded satisfactorily at this stage.
"This successful result follows from a similarly touted tax in NSW which was also quashed following lobbying by the Association."
