With this acquisition, Delivery Hero is maintaining and expanding its strong position as a global market leader and is now represented in 20 countries across four continents, including Australia.
PedidosYa was created in 2009 by a three-member founding team led by current CEO Ariel Burschtin in Uruguay. After the concept was successfully established in the domestic market, the company expanded into Latin America. PedidosYa is currently operating in nine countries. The network includes 12,000 partner restaurants that covers more than 300 cities and the company is about to launch in three new countries.
PedidosYa and Delivery Hero were already in confidential partnership since late last spring. PedidosYa has since then more than doubled its orders and the cooperation between the companies has proven to be very successful. Delivery Hero and the founders of PedidosYa are now the only shareholders after Delivery Hero bought up the shares of the existing investors, Atomico and Kaszek.
Delivery Hero sees a very attractive growth opportunity in the Latin American markets. The success of the PedidosYa App - with more than two million downloads - shows the enormous potential for new technologies in this region.
Launched in Germany in May 2011 and Australia in July 2011, Delivery Hero today operates in 20 countries and connects hungry customers to more than 75,000 restaurants. Backed up by an international network, the company has gathered more than AUS $270 million to date.
