Located on the site of the former Jannali Inn site which dates back to 1958, the Union Place Hotel redevelopment in 2019 was carried out by JDA Hotels and design by Paul Kelly Design. The designers wanted to maximise area of cover, yet maintain the outdoor atmosphere. Adding a series of architectural umbrellas canopies throughout the outdoor area was seen as the best way to provide patron comfort and weather protection for the outdoor area.
The Union Place Hotel Umbrellas are spread over three levels. The different areas offered different geometries and spaces to cover.
The 12 x MakMax Centra CS38 Architectural Umbrellas protect outdoor diners from the on the sun-drenched alfresco dining terrace. With the umbrella layout being offset and not completely symmetrical, rainwater control is achieved using perimeter gutters on each of the umbrellas.
The long-lasting PVC canopies are made from Serge-Ferrari SoltisProof 502 fabric. The light grey “Boulder” colour of the PVC is framed by with a charcoal-grey painted steel pole and matching brown paint on the steel umbrella arms and aluminium guttering.
The vibrant, leafy terrace is perfect for those wishing to sit back during the day, shaded by large umbrellas or stay until late with heating & festoon lighting providing ambience and comfort all night long.
