The design of the cooling mechanism of the slush machine is similar to a domestic refrigerator. It has a condenser, expansion valve, compressor and evaporator. They also feature two blades to mix or stir the slush. Other features include one, two, or more slush tanks with lids, LED lights in the tank lid, a drip tray, a fluid level indicator and a temperature control panel.

There are two types of Slush machines: automatic Slushie machines and manual Slushie machines. Automatic slush machines add the required amount of sugar and flavours according to the size of the cup automatically. Whereas manual machines require a person to add the flavours and sugar to the mixture.
